We create intuitive, ergodynamic, & beautiful organizational solutions for any room of your home.

  • Wish you could press a magic button and be totally moved in? Allow us to unpack and plan your kitchen, put away all your clothes, arrange your living room, and hang your art. While unpacking your things in your new home, we’ll generate a shopping guide, if needed, for furniture, bins, etc that you might need to balance your new space. Feel free to work hand in hand with us, or to take business calls and write emails in your office while we simply take care of it.

  • DECLUTTERING
Buried in an overabundance of things? Having trouble letting go? We’re happy to accompany you in the decision-making process in the hopes of speeding it up and making it feel surer and swifter than it does on your own. From massive purges to minor pruning, letting go of objects and papers can hold a lot of emotional weight. We’re sensitive to the occasionally loaded nature of this process, and offer you our open support. Feel free to cry when we throw away your exes sweater! Feel free to talk about your divorce! Whatever comes up is ripe for the process.

    ORGANIZING
We always start with decluttering, and then, solving the spatial puzzle with what remains, we begin the artful sudoku of organizing your belongings.

We’re happy to work in multiple modes — we can oblige a BuyNothing challenge and renew the space with only what’s already there, or, more commonly, we’ll alleviate spatial traffic jams by bringing in new products and furniture, ranging from a few bins to a a room-full of new structures, depending on your needs.

In any event, our goal is to design you a SYSTEM to undergird your space and belongings. This system is tailored to the realities of your daily habits and shaped by your aesthetic preferences. With every object type zoned into a given home, tidying up should become easier, more straightforward, with the question “where should this go?” already answered.

  • Any given organizing project might result in rearranging the space. We’re aiming to maximize efficiency and function while prioritizing aesthetic delight. Furniture may shuffle around, lighting may shift, and certain bins and furniture may need to be purchased. Your kitchen cupboards might be made more navigable by bins, or your office pile might be easily alleviated by the addition of a shelving system and labeled file boxes. Your closet might need a certain number and size of bins, or your shoe collection might need some serious structure to turn it from a pile to a library.

Ideally we’ll handle ordering, installation and implementation for you, but we can also leave you with a linked shopping list and some drawings to follow as a map, if you’d prefer.

  • We’re skilled in organizing any room in the house, but we’d like to highlight our delight in doing closets. We’re commonly called in to prune, rearrange, and sometimes rebuild closets. This is our longest standing expertise and one of our favorite puzzles to solve.

  • SPACE DOCTORS works regularly with a licensed & insured contractor/handyman who is able to build custom shelving, hardwire lights, install heavy items on concrete walls, hang doors, and more.

  • Working from home? Let’s design you a healthy office space. The great chair designer Peter Opsvik famously said “The best posture is the next posture.” which is to say movement and circulation are healthy, while sedentarism, stagnancy, extensive cramped stillness is a strain on multiple bodily systems. I design office spaces with movement in mind, whether with furniture that allows movement while working, or by designing an office landscape that incorporates multiple options of fixed seating modes.

I have a somatic research background – I am certifying to teach the Alexander Technique, and I hold a Masters of Science in Social and Somatic Factors in Design from UC Berkeley,. In 2021 I directed a short documentary called Sedentary, which explores the health effects of too much sitting, and critiques the geometry of the common task chair and desk.

    Dynamism. Movement. Blood flow.

  • Cat scratch fever? Allow us to assuage it!

YOU CAN TRAIN YOUR CAT NOT TO CRATCH THE FURNITURE, we swear. Let us help you.

The answer lies in camaraderie , catcommunication and, of course, design.

    1. Acknowledge that scratching is inherent to cats – they must scratch. Through it they mark territory, shed nail layers, stretch.

    2. Provide sturdy, heavy, unmoving, rope/sisal alternatives to your furniture. Without an appealing alternative, your spritzing and fretting will only cause your cat duress and shrunken joy. Give them something that doesn’t move when they scratch it (replicate a tree’s strength).

    3. Communicate with your cat as a littermate, a comrade. Your cat doesn’t care if you approve of their behavior, but they will listen to you if, as part of the pack, you let them know when something is dangerous. Bring them to think that scratching the furniture is dangerous and that you’re looking out for them by making a scared/worried expression and high pitched frightened noises when you see them scratching a couch. Squeak, fret, pick them up off your furniture and bring them to the heavy rope cat scratcher. Gradiently calm your tone, and when you arrive at the heavy scratcher and place them on it, coo and sound relieved, like you’re both safe now. If they don’t immediately take to scratching the rope, you can encourage them by scratching it yourself. Cease to pay attention to cat and pretend to be enjoying scratching this rope for your own sake. The sound get’s them all into it, like they understand its texture now and want to sink their claws in and get stuck. #freaks

    4. Repeat this often til it sticks.

Any and all of the above might occur in a given project – I elaborate here on the subdivided aspects to help you see yourself in the process.
